Steps in Building the Perfect Indoor Grow Room

If you’re interested in creating your own indoor grow room, you’ll be happy to know that it isn’t very hard to do so. However, there are lots of planning and preparation that needs to be done before your indoor grow room is completed.

Without further ado, here are the essential steps you want to follow in order to build your indoor grow room:

Step 1: Choose Your Growing Method

The first thing that you have to do is to choose your growing method. Most gardeners make use of soil in order to grow their indoor plants because that is the traditional way to go about it. However, there are also others who prefer using hydroponic systems instead especially while growing marijuana. Therefore, when you make your grow room, you need to decide which growing method is most suitable for the plants that you want to cultivate. Check out What for Me to know more about the growing method.

Step 2: Decide How Big Your Space Is

Now that you’ve decided your preferred growing method, the next thing to think about is space. This is an important step because it determines how many plants you’ll be able to fit into it. It also determines how big your plants should be.

According to Vela Community, “If you’re looking for a good figure to use as your guideline, you may try nine plants per square meter if the plants are not too big. For bigger plants, you may want to try four plants per square meter. If you only want to grow small plants, you can put up to twenty-five plants per square meter.”

Step 3: Prepare the Lighting

The next thing you need to take into consideration is the lighting. Since plants need sunlight to grow, you’ll need to somehow replicate sunlight with an artificial type of lighting. You can try installing high-powered LED, HPS, or solar lights for this. When you decide which type of lights you want to install, we recommend that you hang them with chains that can be adjusted. That way, you can adjust the height anytime you need to. Just to give you an idea, lights generally need to be 8 to 31 inches away from the plants.

Step 4: Install the Right Ventilation

Aside from lighting, another important part of growing plants is ventilation. You need to ensure that you have the right type of ventilation so that your plants can grow well. This is especially true for sensitive plants such as cannabis and other similar kinds. The right type of ventilation can prevent the spreading of mold and mildew.

What you want to do is make sure that your space is well-ventilated. Too much humidity is not good for your plants, so make sure you control the heat levels. One of the best and simplest ways to create a ventilation system is to install a heavy-duty fan facing the grow room ceiling.

Step 5: Add Up Reflectors

In order to fully optimize the lighting system and ventilation, you need to add some reflectors to contain everything inside. With white walls and other reflective materials, you can bounce the light to the plants. By doing this, you can prevent the leakage of light and make sure that no light is wasted.

Step 6: Control the Temperature

Lastly, you need to make sure that you control the temperature of the room. You can do this by using various tools such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, CO2 generators, big fans, thermometers, and humidistats. Not only will these tools test the humidity levels of your grow room, but they will also help you set the right temperature.

Conclusion

While building a grow room isn’t as hard as renovating a bedroom or putting up a greenhouse, there are a number of things you need to do before you get the ball rolling. The steps that we’ve mentioned above will help you ensure that your grow room is set up and ready to grow some plants. So make sure to follow these steps carefully so your plants can bloom beautifully when you bring them in.
