These flowers have 12 to 20 buds and take more than a month to open. At that time, all of them are ready for pollination. Plant in good health and in appropriate environment bear more than 1000 flowers in a season, each lasts for only one day.

Along with producing a flower, Vanilla Orchid also bears the seed pods. These seed pods are used as Vanilla. They usually dry in more than 6 months. Scientific methods are also used to produce more seed pods for commercial purposes.
